Nakeisha Cody, Class of 2008
Born and raised in Boston, Nakeisha received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and is currently pursuing her PhD in Sociology at Northeastern University. Her dissertation will focus on the tea industry in Kenya, detailing its effect on gender and household relations. Nakeisha is committed to putting her intellectual pursuits into practice. She has taught university courses within the disciplines of Sociology, Anthropology, African American Studies, and Gender Studies. As a consultant, she utilizes her knowledge in ethnographic methods to help organizations improve services amongst their clients. Nakeisha is primarily interested in addressing socioeconomic disparities, as it relates to race, class, and gender. While some of Nakeisha’s more recent work examined these issues on an international level, she is committed to addressing inequities within the United States, through work with organizations aimed at improving the condition of the poor and working class.
