Nekita Lamour, Class of 2008

Nekita has spent 27 years as an educator in the field of ESL, Bilingual, and Multicultural Education, mostly in the Cambridge Public Schools. She has been active in several Metro North towns for over three decades. An avid traveler and a prolific writer, her letters to the editor have been published in the Boston Globe, the Cambridge Chronicle, and US Catholic. For three years, Nekita wrote a monthly column in the Boston Haitian Reporter and, since 2004, has periodically contributed to the Malden Observer. A graduate of Boston State College, Nekita earned a Masters in Education from University of Massachusetts Boston and pursued post-graduate studies in Special Education and ESL at Lesley University. Also a professional lay minister, Nekita holds a theological degree from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Her primary interests include civic engagement, education, and outreach to youth.
